How do you rig the Whip Worm?

Texas rig, Neko rig, shaky head, Carolina rig, drop shot, or weightless. For Neko rigging, pair it with the Wacky-Neko Ring. Pick the rig by cover and by whether you want it crawling bottom, standing up, falling slowly, or working through grass and wood. For Neko rigs use a light-wire Neko hook and a nail weight sized to the depth and fall rate you want; for Texas rigs pair it with an EWG hook and the lightest weight that keeps bottom contact and control.

When should I fish the Whip Worm?

When bass are pressured, following but not committing, holding around cover, or feeding where a slower, more natural worm presentation triggers bites. Work it around grass edges, laydowns, brush, docks, points, creek-channel swings, and rock transitions — largemouth around the shallow cover, smallmouth around rock and clear-water structure.

Start with water clarity and light. Natural, subtle colors in clearer water; darker, bolder, higher-contrast colors in stained water, shade, wind, or low light.
